Here’s what the opinion makers had to say about Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Varun’s film…

Raja Sen : Bareknuckled bloody blast, Badlapur Review

Aniruddh Guha : Sriram Raghavan subverts conventional hero-villain norms in Badlapur and makes a cracking film. Brilliant, first scene to last. Loved it!. You go Varun Dhawan! Which young actor can boast of a Main Tera Hero, a Humpty Sharma and a Badlapur in a short span.

Shubha Shetty: Varun Dhawan is a smart, smart boy to have picked Badlapur at this time of his career. Totally worth the wait.

Rohit Khilnani : Watched Varun Dhawan’s BEST performance till date! He is simply outstanding in Sriram Raghavan’s Badlapur

Taran Adarsh : You need a strong stomach to absorb the revenge saga Badlapur. The premise may be simplistic, but the twists/turns are unconventional.

That’s not it. Even industrywallahs couldn’t sop going gaga about Varun’s film.

Karan Johar wrote on his Twitter page, “Badlapur is absolutely stunning! Varun made me so so proud! He is exceptional!!! And it’s doesn’t get better than Nawaz!! Must watch!! Thrilled to bits to see the media reaction of Badlapur go watch our best psychological thriller yet.”

And Finding Fanny director Homi Adajania commented, “Badlapur impresses with Sriram Raghavan’s inimitable style. I love the premise of his narrative, of unknowingly becoming everything you want to destroy. Badlapur is a psychological roller coaster with such effortless performances of difficult characters. We all have to back cinema like this in order to grow creatively.”

STORY: Raghu’s (Varun Dhawan) indefectible life is devastated, when a robbery episode kills his wife and son. The culprit Liak (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) refuses to let out the truth and is imprisoned for 20 years. Refusing to move on, Raghu harbours in him the tryst for truth. Can he avenge the deaths of people who meant the world to him? And, is being devoured by the feeling of revenge as gratifying as his volcanic rage had promised?REVIEW: Badlapur is a gobsmacking movie that suffuses on screen – a deftly written story, spectacular performances and an intelligently layered screenplay. What works best here is the film’s unpredictability. From the minute it begins, you’re latched to your seat with your heart throbbing in your mouth and your throat frequently choking up. For the sheer impact the movie conjures up, writer-director Sriram Raghavan deserves a bow!
Mixing grit and suspense in the right measure, Sriram allows his film to take the risky path in keeping you invested, ably playing his motley bunch of characters. While the layers smoothly unfold in this vendetta affair, Raghavan’s clarity of vision keeps the narrative seamless. The wicked humour sprinkled abruptly in the sequences draws one further into this movie. The excessive gore might be considered superfluous but is vital for the impact it has.The driving force here are the actors who evolve the story. Varun’s measured acting and sincere eyes draw empathy. With each scene, the intense hues he brings to Raghu, unravel. Nawaz is superlative as Liak, bringing a sinful streak of twisted comedy, teaming it with unabashed swagger. The ladies deliver adequately, but it’s Huma Qureshi who brings more to her role than what it holds.Though the film’s second hour meanders and is a tad long, the compelling climax and memorable scenes, like the one where Liak reveals the truth that Raghu had desperately been seeking, trivializes these flaws. Added to it, Sachin-Jigar’s haunting music adds a piercing quality.

Brisk and absorbing, concluding differently than expected, Badlapur is an inspired film that dangerously attempts to change the landscape of the thriller genre in Bollywood.

Here’s A List Of Words That The Censor Board Of India Has Banned
The leaked Censor Board notice disallows the usage of 30+ words in “any category of the [censor] certificate,” which includes movies, television, music, and live shows.

A few days ago, a list of words that are not to be used in any certification category was released by the Central Board of Film Certification to all its regional officers.

Among the words present are predictable English cuss words, as well as their Hindi counterparts. However, more ambiguously, the list goes on to ban words that showcase “violence against womans,” words which glorify boodshed, as well as any “double meaning kind of words.” The list also disallows use of the word “Bombay” to describe India’s commercial capital, which was renamed to Mumbai in 1996

Valentine Special: Top 10 evergreen romantic songs

dilwale-dulhania-le-jaayenge

Just like the nights are incomplete without the shining stars, life is incomplete without some romance. And the credit for whatever little we know about romance goes to Bollywood.

While the films play an important part in understanding love, it is also really incomplete without the lovey-dovey songs filled with meaningful lyrics that are a major contribution to portraying love.

As we celebrate love this Valentine, we bring back some of those Bollywood songs that touched your heart in this lifetime.

1. Tujhe Dekha Toh Yeh Jaana Sanam – DILWALE DULHANIYA LE JAAYENGE

This song played a major role in the movie. It was during the song that Shah Rukh Khan- Kajol realise their love for each other. The song is also brilliantly constituted by Aditya Chopra, sung by Lata Mangeshkar and Kumar Sanu and the music is given by Jatin- Lalit.

2. Kabhi Kabhie Mere Dil Mein – KABHI KABHIE

‘Kabhi Kabhie Mere Dil Mein’ is a perfect illustration of eternal love, again by the most romantic Bollywood filmmaker- Yash Chopra. The song is based on Amitabh Bachchan and Raakhee’s romance during the chilling season in Kashmir. It is composed by Khayyam and sung by Mukesh.

3. Tum Hi Ho – AASHIQUI 2

Listening to this song during the rains just makes you want to do the signature AASHIQUI 2 pose with your loved one. ‘Tum Hi Ho’ is yet another song that depicts the sweet pain attached to love. This song also made Arijit Singh the voice behind the romantic songs that followed, and Mithoon the music composer.

4. Teri Meri – BODYGUARD

Picturised on Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor, the song is all about the unspoken love. Sung by the singing maestros Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Shreya Ghoshal, the music is composed by Himesh Reshammiya and lyrics are penned by Shabbir Ahmed.

5. ‘Tera Hone Laga Hoon’ – AJAB PREM KI GHAZAB KAHANI

Who can forget the cute Ranbir Kapoor- Katrina Kaif love story that is portrayed through the song ‘Tera Hone Laga Hoon’? Sung by Atif Aslam and Alisha Chinoy, the music is directed by Pritam.

6. Tumse Milke Aisa Laga – PARINDA

‘Tumse Milke Aisa Laga’ is one nostalgic song that takes you back to the times when you have newly fallen in love with someone. Filmed on one of the most appreciated couple Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit, the song is sung by Asha Bhosle and Suresh Wadhkar, and the music is given by the legendary R.D. Burman.

7. Pehla Nasha – JO JEETA WAHI SIKANDAR

‘Pehla Nasha’ is a perfect blend of young love, which gives you the tingling feeling. Sung by Udit Narayan and Sadhana Sargam, the music is given by Jatin- Lalit and the lyrics are penned by Majrooh Sultanpuri.

8. Saathiya – SAATHIYA

Based on newly married couples, the song depicts one’s care for their spouse. Music given by A.R. Rahman and lyrics penned by Gulzar, the song is sung by Sonu Nigam, Dominique Cerejo, Clinton Cerejo, Benny Dayal.

9. Tumko Dekha Toh Yeh Khayaal Aaya – SAATH SAATH

‘Tumko Dekha Toh Yeh Khayaal Aaya’ reminds one of innocent love, and is a refreshing change in describing love. Music given by Kuldeep Singh, Jagjit Singh and Chitra Singh are the voice behind the song.

10. Tum Se Hi – JAB WE MET

‘Tum Se Hi’ (picturised on Shahid Kapoor- Kareena Kapoor Khan) is the cute song that makes one feel ‘love in the air’. Sung by Mohit Chauhan, the lyrics are penned by Irshad Kamil and music is given by Pritam.

Roy : Movie review

Movie Review Courtesy : Yahoo Movies Review: Roy By Rummana Ahmed

Cast: Arjun Rampal, Jacqueline Fernandez, Ranbir Kapoor, Rajit Kapoor, Anupam Kher
Direction: Vikramjit Singh

Rating: **

I never thought that I would say this about a Ranbir Kapoor film, but Roy is an excruciatingly boring film. Nothing, absolutely nothing, seems to break the monotony of the narrative.
There is no thrill in this romantic thriller. Yes, there is romance but this is an insipid and predictable love story. The emotions, the separation and the redemption remain superfluous entities, never really weaving a compelling tale.
Our filmmaker (Arjun Rampal) wants to tell the fascinating story of a thief (Ranbir Kapoor), who has intrigued him since childhood. His chance encounter with another director, Ayesha Amin (Jacqueline Fernandez), inspires him to craft the much-awaited sequel for his mysterious protagonist. The only thing is the brooding, pensive thief sounds interesting on paper but the character just doesn’t seem to translate into a suave swindler on screen.

a6452760-b0fa-11e4-91b0-7573cf5d43e2_PE1A2309

Vikramjit Singh has evidently dwelled too much on the mood setting – the bluish-greys in most scenes, the close-ups, the measured pace – they are all good but where is the story? The hook? The peg?
The parallel stories of the thief and the author don’t coalesce naturally. We see no layers peel away. We are playing with the hues to probably make a point about how all or most individuals have shades of grey and you cannot compartmentalize people as black or white. But here, they are not. In fact, you realize that all the characters in this film are pretty unidimensional and their story is completely linear.
There is just too much foreplay in this film. Arjun, Ranbir and Jacqueline are saddled with a flimsy script. It’s good that we have pretty faces to look at because we spend way too much time on them – their silhouettes, their moods, their monologues.
I am a little worried for Ranbir Kapoor – his last success at the Box Office was Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (May, 2013). His Beshram (October, 2013) was a disaster and after more than a year Roy is another colossal disappointment.

Watch it if you want to, but Roy was just too pretentious for my choice.

Here is the promo for the movie

Lyrics of  the best song from Namaste London

Tera banega woh jo, tera nahi hai
Aye dil bata kyun tujko, itna yakin hai
Mere dil-e-beqkaar
Haan dil-e-beqkaar
Yahi hota pyaar hai kya
Mere dil-e-beqkaar
Haay

Yahi hota pyaar hai kya
Mere dil-e-beqkaar
Yahi hota pyaar hai kya

Khwaabon mein koyi kyun hai yuun rehta
Aye dil tu kyun mujhe hain yeh kehta
Woh mera rasta bhi hai, aur woh hi manzil
Woh mera sagar bhi hai, aur woh hi saahil
Kaisi bata yeh betaabiyaan hain
Hum chalte chalte aye kahaan hain
Dil-e-beqkaar

Yahi hota pyaar hai kya
Mere dil-e-beqkaar
Haay

Yahi hota pyaar hai kya
Mere dil-e-beqkaar
Yahi hota pyaar hai kya

Sunta hoon mein teri yeh dastaan
Simmte ki ek din to yeh dooriyaan
Pal mere tum mein dil koyi nahi hai
Tere zidd mein aye dil sadd afreen hai
Kyun yeh junoon hai, kya zustju hai
Aakhir tujhe kyun, yeh aarzoo hai
Dil-e-beqkaar
Yahi hota pyaar hai kya
Mere dil-e-beqkaar
Haay

Yahi hota pyaar hai kya
Mere dil-e-beqkaar
Yahi hota pyaar hai kya
